Rabbi Shlomo Sobol and Rebbetzin Tali Sobol joined our community in September of 2005. BKA members felt privileged to welcome such a talented (Rabbi Sobol learned at the prestigious Mercaz HaRav Yeshiva in Jerusalem and received his rabbinic ordination from there) and experienced communal leader. Most recently, the Sobols spent four years in Detroit, Michigan, where Rabbi Sobol headed the Torah Mitzion Kollel. The Sobols were not only active in the educational and spiritual life of the Detroit Jewish community, but also led communal events. The time Rabbi Sobol spent in Detroit has provided him with an ability to understand and relate to the community’s Anglo-Saxon members and the unique challenges they face in terms of integration into Israel.
Love of Eretz Yisrael combined with love of Torah form the background and basis of Rabbi Sobol's dynamic approach to leading the BKA community.
Rabbi Sobol grew up in Jerusalem. He and Tali were married in 1995, and have four children: Yosef, Yiska, Rachel and Mordechai.
“I have been a member of two other shuls in Modi’in, but I had never really found my niche until joining Beit Knesset Ashkenaz in Buchman. Rabbi Sobol is a major factor in the comfort level I feel at the shul. He has always been friendly and welcoming, and I find myself constantly learning from him. In fact, I enjoyed his weekly lessons so much that I asked him if he would mind having a weekly one-on-one session with me. Rabbi Sobol generously agreed to donate his time without hesitation, while receiving nothing in exchange except the pleasure of helping to educate a fellow Jew. A major factor in the success of BKA has been the wonderful leadership of Rabbi Sobol.” – Eric Danis, member of BKA.
